The predecessor of Henan University of Science and Technology Medical College was Luoyang Medical College, which was established in October 1958. It was one of the only two undergraduate medical colleges in Henan Province at that time. The first class recruited 240 new students and the affiliated nursing school recruited 88 people. In 1959 and 1960, 180 students were recruited respectively, and in 1961, 91 students were recruited. The faculty and staff mainly come from well-known universities such as Wuhan Medical College (now Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology), Beijing Medical College, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Xiangya Medical College, China Medical University, and Shanghai Tongde Medical College.
